About Us

  • Celebrating 96 years of Sisterhood and Service to all Mankind

Ninety six years ago, a small group of ten dedicated women launched a dream in March of 1923. Like other successful organizations and institutions, Kappa Omega has sustained its legacy and has steadily grown by adhering to its goals and constantly formulating its programs and services to meet the needs and interests of current and future generations.

On March 1, 1923, Kappa Omega became the first graduate chapter chartered in Atlanta, Georgia. We are also the oldest chapter in the South Atlantic Region. Marie Woolfolk Taylor, one of the original founders of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. became the first president of Kappa Omega and one of its chartering members.

Kappa Omega is the home of the 23rd International President, Dr. Mary Shy Scott and the 13th South Atlantic Regional Director, Dr. Lucretia Payton Stewart. Kappa Omega is committed to exemplary service and leadership and its members uphold the legacy of this great sisterhood.
